Viking Sandwater
Project
Leiths Civil Engineering have recently won a contract with Morrison
Construction to upgrade several retail parks around Scotland, from
Dundee Kingsway West, Springfield in Elgin, and Beach Boulevard and
Garthdee in Aberdeen.
The works have involved a range of civils works from paviors, concrete,
signing, lining and surfacing. Managing and programming the
separate projects and keeping the retail shops operating as close
to business as usual can be challenging but our client has been
delighted with the progress and quality of our Civil Engineering and
Surfacing team.
Leiths surfacing division have recently completed works
for RJ McLeod on the Viking Sandwater project in sunny
Shetland. The surfacing involved 7,000t of asphalt material
over a new 2km stretch of road.
There were many challenges to the project from landslides, sparrows nesting
on our plant, and the huge effort in planning the logistics to work on the
island. CE&S would like to thank Rosie Reid and Inga Kotula from our
Purchasing team for all their help.
The surfacing squad – Ian More, Darren Bryden, Ryan McPherson, Dean
Hanson, Steven Ross, Andy Towns, Robert Taylor and Andrew Dingwall – in
action.
Our recently graduated apprentice, Harris Greig, laying paviors at the
Garthdee site.
