New Quarry Managers
Tom Humphries at Parkmore
Tom Humphries joined Leiths on
10 February 2025 as Parkmore’s
new Quarry Manager.
Tom hails from the County of
Wiltshire, in the south-west of
England, an area known for
quarrying Oolitic Limestone,
which is appropriate for
managing Parkmore Quarry - the
principal product supplied being
Agricultural Limestone.

Gordon Stephen and David Wood
Markon Planing Division
Both Gordon and David joined the Leiths Group in October 1999
before transferring to Markon in January 2001. They have continued
to support the Road Planing division in both operating plant and
mechanical knowledge for the maintenance of a wide variety of
sizes of milling machines and vehicles.
An abiding interest in falconry
brought Tom north to Scotland
commencing his employment
in 1994 at the then Pioneer
Concrete Plant within the Westhill Industrial Estate. After Ennstone
Thistle acquired the plant Tom was running, he was promoted to
Assistant Manager at Craigenlow Quarry, then further to Quarry
Manager.
The next stage of Tom’s career saw him move further North during
2015 as Breedon Aggregates Area Manager over-seeing quarries
as varied as More昀椀elds (another Limestone connection); Beauly;
Ardchronie and Daviot. Tom was then appointed Quarry Manager
for Tom’s Forest Quarry at Kintore which saw him heavily involved
in the AWPR project supplying large quantities of both Dry and
Coated products to the project. The appointment had the added
bene昀椀t of bringing Tom closer to home. On completion of the
AWPR project, Tom joined Tarmac as Area Manager for the Moray
area, overseeing a number of smaller sand and gravel units
surrounding the main facility at Cloddach Quarry, south of Elgin.
After applying for the then vacant position of Quarry Manager at
Parkmore, the Leiths management team were, understandably,
delighted and “sealed the deal” as soon as possible. Two main
reasons for Tom joining Leiths were to return to a more hands on
quarrying experience and to work for a local company rather than
a multi-national, thus maintaining local relationships which,
ultimately, leads to long lasting sustainability.
Away from work, Tom’s interests, apart from falconry, tend to sway
towards motoring where he is currently renovating a 2007 Mini
Cooper S with his son, and also bike rides on his 1979 1100c.c.
Yamaha Special, an import from the United States.
